Following my earlier post about water pressure and supply problems across DN5, I received a response from Yorkshire Water explaining the issues were driven by exceptional demand during the recent heat, and that network adjustments were being made to stabilise supply.
I accept that the current abnormally hot weather has played a part in this issue, however, the response I received did not answer my key concerns about the ongoing issues for residents in the DN5 area.
I have further questions on the long-term resolutions and plans to deal with water shortages, and so I have written to Nicola Shaw, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Water, to seek reassurances about the long-term resilience of the local network. Increased temperatures will always be a factor, but our utility infrastructure must be equipped to handle this. It is vital that my constituents have a reliable, consistent water supply during these periods.
I will keep residents updated as the situation develops. If you are still experiencing issues, please get in touch with my office at ed.miliband.mp@parliament.uk.
