Last week I held a ‘Meet Your MP’ event at Mexborough Library, speaking directly with residents about their concerns. Some of the matters we spoke about included anti-social behaviour in the area, the upcoming Pride in Place programme for Mexborough, along with the redevelopment works that are currently happening in the area. I am very grateful to those who came to speak with me.
A quick update for Mexborough about ASB and off-road bikes in Mexborough, as I have been in contact with South Yorkshire Police about this issue. They have told me that anti-social behaviour involving off-road bikes continues to be a concern for residents in the area, particularly around the ‘Rocket Field’ and other hotspots in Mexborough. The have said that this was a key topic at last week’s community engagement meeting.
The Mexborough Neighbourhood Policing Team has made this a priority, with recent successes including bike seizures and Community Protection Notices issued to offenders.
One of the biggest issues they face is that reporting of these issues has dramatically dropped. In January, Mexborough had just 3 reports – none with actionable intelligence – compared to 20+ in some other Doncaster areas.
Every report matters. Even if you only have vague details, it helps to build a picture and secure resources such as the Off-Road Bike Team and drones.
If you see or hear off-road bikes being used anti-socially, please report it to the police on 101 or online at the link below.
Any information about who’s involved or where bikes are stored could make all the difference.
