I recently held a very important meeting with Compass Fostering in my constituency office in Doncaster.
I had the privilege of hearing from five inspiring young people in care as they shared their experiences, alongside foster carers who spoke about the profound sense of purpose fostering brings. I also heard a powerful poem written and read by one of the young people.
Our conversation was honest about the challenges facing young people in care and highlighted the urgent need for more foster carers and better support for those leaving care.
These conversations are so important to have, particularly so that those with lived experience feel heard, seen and considered in the conversation. I felt inspired and grateful to everyone who took part.
