I’m very pleased to inform constituents that the Secretary of State for Transport has today lifted safeguarding along the former Phase 2b Eastern leg of HS2 between the West Midlands and Leeds, which includes Mexborough and surrounding villages.
I know the cloud of uncertainty safeguarding has cast for residents even after the cancellation of HS2.
That is why I have pressed for this to be lifted as soon as possible.
I am informed that HS2 Ltd will be writing to the owners of properties affected to explain what these changes mean to them.
