It was great to meet with Helen who runs the Fox Gallery in Mexborough Business Centre to hear the story of the gallery so far.
Whilst at the gallery, I met with local photographer Martin Pick who showed me around his exhibition, and I also was shown an exhibition by local artist Deborah Frith.
Martin’s work, ‘What’s left? What’s next?, explores the legacy of the 1984 miners strike and contains multiple black and white photos of various people and places connected with the strike.
Deborah’s work explores the use of clay and includes sculptures of warhorses, people, and angelic figures. Also on display are Deborah’s paintings, which capture these subjects from a different perspective.
I was very impressed by both exhibitions and would encourage people to visit Fox Gallery to see both Martin’s and Deborah’s work. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 2pm.
If any Doncaster-based artists are interested in displaying their work, they can contact the gallery at info@foxgallery.co.uk.
