Thank you so much to the organisers of the Art Bomb exhibition and commemoration of the miners’ strike on Saturday and to the artists for their work.
It was an honour to be there and open the exhibition alongside Sally Jameson, Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Doncaster Central and Rosie Winterton MP for Doncaster Central.
It is very important we remember the extraordinary struggle and hardship people went through during the strike and what a lasting impact it had on our communities. We honour the fight for their livelihoods that people went through, the strength of our communities and the continuing fight for good jobs and wages that people face today.
It is also important that future generations are taught about the impact of those events and the importance of our communities coming together in solidarity. It was a pleasure to be there with Sally and Chris Kitchen, General Secretary of the NUM.
The exhibition is open at Art Bomb, 60 Hallgate, Doncaster until 21st April.
