JOINT UPDATE ON DSA FROM DONCASTER MPs:
On Friday morning there was the MP & Mayor update on the South Yorkshire Airport City programme, which aims to save and reopen Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
City of Doncaster Council (CDC) have entered the next stage of the procurement process, which is progressing as planned, with the aim of appointing an operator in the Spring.
A number of condition surveys of the site have been completed and we are pleased to hear that the site is in very good condition considering it has been closed for over a year. Estimated costs to reinstate airport operations have been included within the Outline Businesses Case (OBC).
CDC have submitted the OBC to South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, this is set to be discussed on Tuesday 13th February.
Lease negotiations continue to progress positively. We are pleased to hear that CDC are confident that they are able to agree a deal, but note that they are not over the line yet.
As MPs for Doncaster we are fully behind the works of our Council to reopen our airport, we were pleased to hear of the positive progress in relation to a potential lease and hope to see some good news soon.
