While I understand that that a shaved head is not consistent with school policy I have written to the school to ask them to find a way forward that does not harm the boys’ education and does not punish them for an act of solidarity with their friend.

Having received a positive reply from the headteacher, I hope very much that an amicable way forward can be found.

The outpouring of support in the community for the family of the young person and his friends shows the strength of Mexborough and I applaud all those seeking to show solidarity.
