I recently met with Chief Superintendent Ian Proffitt of South Yorkshire Police to pass on concerns that have been raised with me.

Motorbikes and quad bikes being ridden dangerously was the most common concern that was brought up. Chief Superintendent Proffitt told me that a dedicated off-road bikes team are working on this issue and they are using a range of strategies to tackle the issue.

I raised the issue of vandalism of buses which has been seen in some areas of the constituency. I was told that South Yorkshire Police have a dedicated buses liaison officer and I am going to be contacting them to ask for an update on this situation.

I was informed that South Yorkshire Police are having some good successes around burglary through a dedicated operation called Operation Castle. The number of burglaries being reported to them has seen a noticeable reduction, with September 2023 seeing the lowest number of burglaries in Doncaster for five years.

I was pleased to hear about the work that has been going into reducing shoplifting, with partnership working taking place supporting people with the vulnerabilities that lead to them committing offences. Teams from health, education and the police are working together to look at ways of reducing shoplifting.
