Ed Miliband Member of Parliament for Doncaster North
Along with Councillor Austen White, I met with Flood Wardens and local residents in Fishlake last week to hear about their brilliant community effort to prevent the village from flooding during Storm Babet. Residents worked for many hours to lay sandbags that prevented the river water from entering the village.
I want to thank people across Doncaster for their response to the storms. I know a number of properties across Doncaster were flooded and all my thoughts are with those affected.
I will continue to work with Doncaster Council and the Environment Agency to ensure that all areas of my constituency have suitable defences to protect them from flooding. We must learn the lessons of this storm to do everything we can to protect residents.
